New York City

New York City was the populous city in the United States and was home to over eight million people. Now, far into the future, New York is under heavy seige, repeated attacks on the rebel controlled city by the government forces around the world. Many creatures have also made their homes in the sewers underneath the city.

He laid in the shadow. As a sleeping giant, a monster. His rumbling breath could occasionally be heard. But then it went silent. The whole body was watching the moving flashlight further away, waiting for the opportunity. The opportunity to strike, to kill. The apex predator of these blocks.

The man staggered along the path next to the sewer water. He was to tired to run, which he already had done in at least in a half an hour. His back was all teared up, and here and there could his skeleton be seen, under the scraps of meat that hung loosely from his back. At regular intervals he looked back, as if he was hunted, but nothing was there to be seen. But he still tried to flee from something, something in the darkness. His survival instincts told him to just run.
His breath was loud and strained, and several times he fell over his feet, just to get up and continue fleeing.
Suddenly, a howling wind stormed through the tunnel. With that, a dark shadow. The man screamed in bloody murder.

The man's two co-workers turned around and looked into the darkness that found itself outside of the two man's flashlights.
"What was that?" One of the worker's asked the other.
"Oh, I bet he just saw a rat or something. With his rat phobia, I wonder why he even chosed this industry." The other one said and shrugged his shoulders. The first co-worker looked back into the darkness and then turned back to what he currently was working on.
"Yeah, I guess you're right."

Meanwhile, the long, snake-like tongue pierced through the left and right part of the man's chest, ripping apart both of his lungs. The man immediately fell silent, began to gargle while blood poured out of the wounds and his mouth.
But he didn't have time to die by blood-lost. The tongue wrapped itself around the man's neck and, with a short flex, instantly crushed it.

Matt and his comrades had been scouting the sewer system for some time now, sent to find and eliminate the cause of so many deaths down in the sewers. Matt kept his wits about him. The squad leader decided to split them up and, raising his hand, said "Okay, we're gonna have to split up to cover more ground. Jase, you take Donovan and check the pressure pumps in the room below us. Matt, you check the forward sewer piping. I'll take Kicker and check up on the barricades. Stay in contact"
As the other squadmates went their directions, Matt went his. He switched on the flashlight on his M4A1 Pulse Rifle and move forward, his feet splashing through the water loudly. The pipeway he was headed should still have had people working overtime as a precaution, which made him feel a little better about being on his own. Then he listened hard. A scream. A human scream. Matt shuddered and pointed his weapon in the directon of the scream. Could the creature be right ahead of him? And how far ahead was it? He walked forward, faster this time, trying to catch up to the culprit before it got away. He stumbled and looked down. His light illuminated the blood spattered corpse of a sewer worker. The torso had been completely ripped up and there were signs that it had happened recently. Matt kept going, soon finding another corpse, except several limbs were missing. Matt wished he hadn't been picked to go this way. The squeaking of rats in the waters around him didn't help either.

Meanwhile, Mord swallowed down the last of his newly downed prey. The legs easily slipped down his monstrous mouth and then disappeared in his belly. But he didn't have much time to enjoy this meal as he suddenly heard footsteps behind him. Then, suddenly, the weak light beam from a flashlight further away. He heard voices to. Although weak, but it sounded like there was more than one.
But the most of the voices were further away than this single light beam, so it probably meant that just one human was going his way.
He chuffed and went into a camouflage mod. Basically, his skin turned all black, but now he couldn't be seen.
Then, he swiftly crawled up on the wall and then stoppd in the roof, taking his ambush position.
If the human just walked some more meters, then it would be in range.

Matt stopped in his tracks. Near another corpse, he'd heard something. Something dangerous. He sone his light in the direction he'd heard it, but he saw nothing. He refused to move, thinking the creature would be trying to spring a trap. He aimed his weapon forward, ready for an attack. After what it had done to the sanitation workers, it would probably do the same to him.
"Oh ****, oh ****, oh shit" was all he could say.

Mord suddenly uttered a clattering sound, trying to mimic the same sound a rat would do when it was running about and hoped that the human would get fooled.
But apparently it didn't, it was all to spooked by the bloody rests that Mord had left behind himself.
Now - why had he done that?
He assumed that he had been all to excited by the hunt and the blood to think. He would have to control himself better next time.
But those had been so easy to hunt. He had to draw their pain a little so he wouldn't get bored.
It would always come new workers the next day.

Then he focused on this human again.
Humans... he hated them...

Slowly, he crawled closer to the human and, when in range, lowered his tail behind the human. A low clattering sound once again sounded from him, but now it sounded more like a big rattlesnake.
The fear of the human enjoyed him, and he would create even more pleasure from this puny little thing.
Its gun wouldn't hurt him. Mord was to strong.

Matt tried to calm himself, shining his flashlight in all directions to locate the creature. he thought he saw the outline of the creature, but it disappeared from view as quickly as it had appeared. Matt then heard something and fired his weapon in that direction, and then the next. Surely it couldn't be too far away, as he could hear it, but not see it.
"I swear to god, next time Donovan gets this job..." Matt mumbled to himself, moving forward a step.

Mord hissed and saw that the human no longer could escape. Time to reveal himself.
Suddenly, his whole body welled out from his stealth mode, showing of his dark grey-blue body in all its greatness. A 5 meter long monster sat, right now, right above the rebel. His long tongue snapped right in front of its face and slammed it down on the ground with a single, heavy blow at its body.

Mord hissed and left the roof and instead now stood right in front of the rebel. The monstrous things that could be called teeth lined the open mouth, where Mord's long, serpent-like tongue slowly got out. The meter long "spear" suddenly shoot out from the end of the tongue, revealing the horrible, poisonous edge.

He hissed and looked at the terrified look of the human. Mord's long claws on his hind legs scratched the ground, tearing up dirt and rocks. The claws on his front legs flexed, showing themself of.

Matt was aiming bang on at the mysterious creature that had finally decided to show itself. It was showing itself off by screaping up bits of concrete and dirt from the ceilings of the sewer pipeway. He stared straight at the creature, wondering what the hell it was. Some lab experiment probably.
"What the...what IS that?" he asked himself, the creature hitting the ground with a thud and continuing the same process on the floor.

Mord let a low howl escape his belly and studied the humans for a second. A useless rebel, that's all. And it just got more and more useless as it seemed to chicken out before the beast who now stood in front of him.
Suddenly, Mord's clawed hand suddenly shoot out and ripped of the walkie-talkie from the human's belt.
He would have no need of that after this.
Then, Mord's tounge closed in at the human, and after have wait an extra second, it quickly wrapped itself around its neck and pressed down its larynx, preventing it from doing any particulary loud sounds. Because if any sound would slip from the sewer piping, and the whole team of rebels would come running.
That would never happen.

A low, hissing sound sounded from the creature.

Matt gasped for breath and fired at the creature, every bullet smashing into it with force. Only one problem. It had no effect, to his dismay. The creature was obviously trying to stop him from screaming out, and choke him to death. Matt fired the weapon's grenade launcher at the creature, hoping it would at least do some damage. He then grabbed his knife and tried cutting the tounge.

Mord screeched and the tongue un-wrapped itself from its throat. The grenade slammed right into him and exploded. Although it didn't hurt him, he had his phobia against fire. He tossed with his head, trying to put out the temporary fire. When it finally did, he quickly focused on the rebel again. He let out an angry snort but suddenly snapped up with his head. All this commotion could've been heard by the humans fellows. But he didn't hear any of them.
A second snort escaped his belly while he ignored the pitifull tries of the human to stab him. His skin wasn't hard, just very thick and very leathery.

Suddenly, Mord lunged, pressing the rebel down on the ground and at the same time knock the air out if it. He let a furious hiss slip out of his body and looked down on the human who now laid in under him. Mord's long, terrible teeth clattered against each other before the long tongue pressed through and slowly lowered itself to the human. At the same time the long knife-like apex appeared from the slimy thing.

Matt would have tried shooting again, but that wouldn't have worked, and would have just made the creature angrier. But it appeared to be afraid of fire. Matt reached for his pocket and pulled out a stick of some sort. He then hit the ground with it, and it lit up, revealing it to be a flare. He then thrusted it into the creature's mouth and tried pushing it's head away from him.

Mord shook his head in discust and screeched as he sensed the flare land in his mouth, but this time he didn't move. A while after it had landed, it was put out, as the venomous sludge that was his salive covered it. There it leaved Mord to continue with whatever he was doing.
He spat out the little stick and then teared in the human's face with his claw, leaving four deep wounds. Then his tail emerged and wrapped itself around the rebel's legs and lifted it up, leaving it hanging up side down in the air. Mord hissed and looked around on the human.
It was quite a fighter this one.
Mord's horrible tongue once again emerged, and the long apex shoot out from the end. As usual, it was dripping with venom. Deadly venom.

The creature slashed at his face, leaving deep wounds, and picked him up and once again produced it's tounge, coated in venom. Deadly venom. Matt fired a few more grenades at the creature, trying to set it alight again, as it was obvious it hated fire.

Mord screeched and dropped the human on the ground with a hard thud. His head shook and snapped against the fire while it slowly disappeared. For a second, he was dried out, but then his body began to secrete the venomous fluid that kept him humid.
This was just sick. How could this be!? It was just one, single little puny human.
Mord snorted and knocked down the human as it was trying to get up. Then he placed his huge foot on top of its chest, pressing down hard and with that, locking its arms on place.
He barked and lowered his head to the human's.
It was time to put out this thing.

Matt was taken by surprise as the creature knocked him down yet again and put it's foot down on him, hard. So hard he could barely breathe. Matt aimed at the creature, giving him a look saying if he wanted more fire. The creature locked it's arms in place and lowered it's head so it was directly in front of Matt's. Matt gave it a tough look, wondering what it would possibly do now.

Mord suddenly stopped with whatever he was doing and just listened. He heard voices, comming this way. His long teeth clicked at each other while he uttered a low, irritated growl. Then his head slowly lifted up again, constantly staring at the end of the tunnel. He stopped again, and listened. Yes, they were comming here. More than one.
Perhaps they were eatable to.
He produced his tongue, who quickly lowered itself and wrapped itself around the rebels neck. Then he stepped of him, but on the same time lifted him up.
Mord took a last look on the human, and suddenly his mouthed tail emerged and bit in the humans side. When he then removed the tail, a huge chunk was bitten of. He would have to let his venom do the work.
Then he threw the rebel in the wall on the other side of the pipeway with an loud bang and then disappeared in his camouflage.
The clattering from his claws against the concrete was heard as he crawled up in the ceiling again.

Matt heard the others coming his way, and with that, the creature lifted him up and stabbed him in the side with its tail, then disappeared, using its camouflage. Matt heard the cluttering of its claws was heard inside the ceiling, just as the others got there.
"Corporal, what the hell happened?" the Sarge asked.
Matt sighed, not knowing what to say. "I found the motherfucker" he said, looking back at where he'd last seen the creature.
"Where is it?"
"Do I look like I know?" Matt replied, leaning against the wall, staring at the corpses of the creature's latest victims. "We lost a few workers..."
Donovan walked over to Matt, examining him for anything. "Jesus, might wanna get that looked at buddy" he said, noticing Matt's facial wound.
"I'm fine..." he said back, picking up his weapon and looking back up towards the ceiling.

Mord studied the group of humans from the ceiling a bit away. The rebel he newly had attacked seemed not to be influenced by the venom, yet. He then stared on the Sarge who had talked to the man he had injured.
Mord's tongue slowly slipped out of his jaws, revealing the long weapon. If he could be seen, he looked like a huge gecko from your nightmares.
He slowly crept closer, carefull to not click with his claws against the concrete-roof. He closed in fast, and soon sat with his head right above the Sarge's head.

The Sarge suddenly screamed and grabbed in something invisible, trying to tear it away. At the same time, several deep, horrible wounds slowly appeared around the top of his chest. Then, suddenly, the Sarge's head disappeared in thin air, but his screams continued, muffled and panicked.

Mord lifted up the man he currently had in his jaws from the ground and pressed down his teeth further down in its chest.

Loud cracks sounded. The Sarge's body was implemented by a pair of rapid shocks before it hung limply in the air.
Then it fell down on the ground with a discust thud.
Headless.

Then, after some second, the head fell from nowhere and landed on the ground, where it rolled up to the other humans.

Mord had never really liked the head. Just bone, maybe some brain, but getting that was just to much useless work.
He looked at the body. He would eat that later, when the others had moved.
Then he stared on the group for a while before he moved some meters away, in case of a gunfight.

The team were shocked. The creature had grabbed the Sarge from nowhere and torn his head clean off. Donovan was about to fire, but Matt stopped him, saying "Don't fire, it's resistant to bullets" Donovan took his finger off the trigger and instead just aimed. Matt watched the Sarge's head roll towards them, Jase making a face. Donovan put his hand behind his back, reaching for a grenade.

Mord snapped up with his head, trying to see whatever the human was reaching after. He didn't like what he saw.
Quiet, he dropped down on the ground and closed in. The humans were still looking at the ceiling, trying to see him.
The human was still reaching after something on his back, whatever it was, it wouldn't be any firearm.
And what else did soldiers care but that?
Bombs...

Suddenly, Mord's tail slammed in in the side of the human, sending him flying several meters. He then jumped after it and landed hard on its chest, pressing it down on the ground, making it unable to move.

"Ack!!!" Donovan shouted as the creatuire leapt onto him and pressed down on him so he couldn't move. Matt picked up Donovan's dropped grenade, and then attempted to kicked the creature off of Donovan, hoping it would get far enough for hi to nade the fucker.

Mord knocked Matt to the ground with his tongue and then picked up the grenade and threw it in the water that ran in the middle of the pipeway. He growled and then stepped of Donovan, but before he managed to get up, Mord wrapped his tongue around his neck and lifted him up in the air. There, he began to press hard around the neck, slowly strangle him, and, long enough, crush his throat.
He began to pull the human in his grip closer to his mouth, as it widened itself, about to swallow down his prey.

(Um, does that mean donovan's dead?)
